Want to feel like a princess for your special day?

Arguably, your wedding is the one occasion when you really want to look and feel your best – even feel like a princess for the day. Problem is: where to start.

Of course with so much choice these days, it can be easy to get yourself into a flat spin regarding what ‘look’ you want to achieve. Flicking through bridal magazines or catwalk shows can sometimes leave you feeling even more confused…

2018 bridal hair trends

Should you opt for the latest trend, or something more traditional? Interestingly, as we approach autumn, spring 2018 bridal hair trends are already out. Here are just some of the on-trend styles that might inspire you:

  • Polished but simple look: With hair scooped back in a pony tail or plait, the emphasis is all on the accessories
  • Fairytale braids: One of the trends is to have braids framing your face in a feminine, yet delicate half updo
  • Floral still in: Whether you opt for a floral crown, a single flower to accentuate a bun or tiny flowers wound into a plait or soft chignon, flowers are still going to be popular in 2018
  • Bo-ho is here to stay: The dreamy bo-ho theme continues with crimped styling for a head-turning look

Has that helped? Think of it this way: aim for a style that suits your personality, dress and hair type. Ultimately, if your hair looks good you feel good!

Be a princess for the day

That’s exactly what I aim for with every bridal hair style I do with my brides-to-be across the Staffordshire region and beyond. Feedback from lovely clients saying that they really did feel like a princess for the day always makes my day!

Wedding hairstyle worries? Keep it simple

Let’s face it: you’ve enough wedding plan worries on your plate as it is. The last thing you want to do is worry about your hair. And yet most brides-to-be put it near the top of their wedding worry list as it’s something that makes such an impact on the day.

If your hair looks and feels great, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day without feeling embarrassed that your hair’s not right. And if you’ve a photographer booked, a hairdo you’re happy with will give you confidence when smiling into the camera too.

So, where do you start? Well my advice – as expert wedding hair stylist across the Staffordshire area and beyond – is to keep it simple. Go for a style that fits with you, your personality, and hair type. No wonder this year’s wedding hair trends are all about keeping it natural…

Be a boho bride

Go boho. Rather than tie up your hair into a bun, you could opt for free-flowing soft waves topped with a floral, pearl or crystal crown. A touch of glamour mixed with down-to-earth simplicity…

Bridal braids

Another option is a sleek up-do with an elegant braid. A simple do with a braid can look effortlessly stylish, especially when you team it up with a pretty tiara or perhaps sparkly hair vine entwined along the braid. Gorgeous!

Plus if you’ve a heavily embellished wedding dress, it makes sense to complement such detailing with understated simplicity.

Getting married in 2018 or beyond?

Are you planning to tie the knot in the next year or so? Why not tick the ‘wedding hair’ worry off the list early. Because I’m already being booked for next season, do get in touch this summer to book in a package.

Right now, I’ve a fab 10% discount on all mobile hair packages over platinum for 2018 weddings. That means you can save money and save your sanity at the same time! Simply book through the enquiry page – quoting Blog10 at the time of enquiry.

Will you and your hairdo get to the church on time?

Traditionally, it’s said the bride is often fashionably late to her wedding. In reality, it is better to be on time these days so that you don’t miss your wedding ‘slot’ at the church or registry office.

On the day itself, what eats up time the most? First, getting into your dress can take an age especially if you have intricate buttoning. Added to this is your hairstyle. It can take so much longer if self-styling as once the nerves kick in, many a bride ends up restyling in panic as it just doesn’t ‘look right.’

And as you know, there’s nothing worse than knowing your hairstyle looks wrong when you know all eyes will be on you for the day.

Tips for time-pressed brides

Instead, many brides-to-be like you now opt for having a professional stylist take care of your hair on the day.

That said, if you choose a hairdressers it can add extra time – leaving you running the risk of spoiling your hairdo if the weather isn’t playing game as you walk back to the carpark.

The better option could be a mobile hair stylist like me who comes to your home on the day itself. Of course, we’d have already had a dummy run of your hairdo beforehand to make sure you are happy with the style. This way, you avoid all possible hairdo disasters on the day! What a relief…

Want to book me as your bridal stylist? Here are some need-to-know pointers:

  • I’m now booking for 2018/19 as most of my time slots are full for this year. Think 12-18 months ahead to get the stylist you want rather than leaving to the last minute.
  • I work across a wide area from Staffordshire, Stoke and Telford, to Shrewsbury, Derby and Notts. If you’re in the Cheshire to Midlands, I can help.
  • Book a Platinum package quoting WP17, you can have a wonderful 10% off. Please note I can only hold dates for 24 hours without a deposit due to enquiries. So if you are happy to book me, get in touch and we can take it from there.

Remember, whatever you choose, planning ahead now will mean you can relax and enjoy your wedding day! Shout if I can help…

Take care,

Lindsay

Are you a blonde or brunette bride-to-be?

Can hair colour really make THAT much of a difference to a bridal hairstyle? Incredibly, it can. Perhaps you’ve scoured Google looking for the perfect hairdo and picked a style hoping it would suit you – but then found it simply doesn’t work on you?

Whether you’re a fiery redhead, sassy blonde or beautiful brunette, it’s crucial to choose a ‘look’ which complements your hair colour, face and style. But as I often find in my career as a mobile wedding stylist, a dream look online doesn’t always match reality … at first.

Let me explain.. With blonde styles, specks of colour accentuate a specific hair design such as a plait. Whereas with darker hair, some of the stunning detail of the style can be lost as there isn’t enough light in the hair to draw attention to it.

Rather than feeling downhearted, the fab news is that ALL it takes to create your perfect wedding hairdo is a dollop of creativity combined with clever technique.

Gorgeous ideas for glorious wedding hair … whatever the colour

  1. If your hair is darker, it’s remarkable how some carefully placed diamanté pins and gorgeous gyp flowers can transform a dull updo into a wedding style that WOWs.
  2. Imagine a beautiful curl turned into a rose petal with the gleaming pin in its centre. Voila! A touch of ‘Lindsay’ magic…
  3. Search online for styles of your hair colour and type, so you start with a realistic picture from the off…

How to get stress-free wedding day hair

Even the calmest bride-to-be can crack under the pressure of getting everything in place before the big day. Finding the right wedding stylist and hairstyle to suit you is often something us girls panic about.

Since I’ve specialised in mobile bridal hair across Cheshire, Stafford and Derbyshire – to name but a few areas – I’ve seen at first hand what sort of problems we women have trying to squeeze everything into busy schedules.

If you work 9-6, there’s no opportunity to book a hair appointment without you taking time off, or getting an appointment in a busy salon on a Saturday. Given that time is restricted, many women can feel rushed into a decision at the hairdressers as it’s such a palaver to arrange another appointment.

Many brides, too, have child care commitments, or simply feel self-conscious in a busy salon. What’s the answer?

The stress-free way to beautiful bridal hair

Imagine a home hair stylist who CAN see you weekends, evenings or during the day when you’re not rushed off your feet. Imagine a kind, patient hairdresser who doesn’t need to rush off to the next appointment – leaving you in the lurch.

Imagine having a hair mock up consultation in the privacy of your own home, where you can trial different styles and see what works for you.

Even if you haven’t a clue what style would suit you, I can help find the perfect look to complement your face shape, hair type and dress choice. All without you needing to leave the house!

What comes first? Wedding dress or hair?

For most of us, our wedding day is a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience. It’s a day of celebration, a day you’ll look back on for years to come. And a day when you want to look and feel your best!

Because your big day matters so much, you want everything to be perfect. That’s why brides often deliberate over their dress, then worry about what hairstyle to have…

First, stop worrying. Getting married is exciting, romantic, wonderful. Try on different dress styles to find what suits your figure. You need to feel right in it… Worry not; you will know the one for you the moment you try it on.

As a bridal hair stylist in Staffordshire, I always recommend brides-to-be to match their hair to their gown, not the other way round. Whatever you you opt for – whether a classic look, floaty ethereal number, an elegant strapless dress, romantic flowing one or asymmetrical vintage gown – I advise what style would match best.

Of course, it depends on your hair length, thickness and current style too. But, in essence, I aim to complement your bridal style to your beautiful dress. A marriage made in heaven!

Best of all, because I’m a mobile hairdresser we can try out lots of different ideas in the comfort of your own home.

Snap up this wedding hair offer

Why a pre-wedding hair trial is a must!

With so much to organise for your wedding – from the dress and venue to bridesmaids and catering – the last thing you need to worry about is your hair!

Yet so many brides-to-be do just that. This is why it makes such a difference to have a mock up of your hairstyle well before your big day. An informal trial giving you the chance to explore different options.

Besides which, a hairstyle is such a personal thing. It’s vital to feel comfortable on your special day, to relax and enjoy it rather than be self-conscious.

A consultation well beforehand means your hair stylist can test out different styles. Especially ideal if you bring your wedding dress and accessories along.

Different wedding dress styles, for instance,  have different necklines. If you’ve opted for the understated elegance of a column dress, tumbling boho curls, pretty plaits or a classy vertical roll can look stunning.

With more traditional wedding gowns, a classic updo can look simply beautiful , or a half updo with loose curls. Perfect!

Your face shape, too, can determine which hairstyle would suit you best. All of these considerations are taken into account at the mock trial, giving you time to make the right choice for you.
